Moran brings extensive medical device and startup expertise to growing biomaterial coatings company.
HORSHAM, PA. February 15, 2018 — Biocoat, Inc. announced today that Jim Moran has joined the company as president and CEO. Based in Horsham, PA, Biocoat develops and licenses biomaterial coatings for medical devices that are custom engineered to meet specific clinical design parameters.
“We are excited to welcome Jim to Biocoat and to have him lead the organization through its next phase of growth. Jim’s leadership style and experience, as well as his acute focus on listening to the customer will greatly enhance how we meet the needs of our expanding market and demonstrate the value of Biocoat,” said Bryan Claseman, chairman of the board for Biocoat.
Prior to joining Biocoat, Moran was the vice president of marketing, North America, for Bracco Diagnostics, where he was responsible for the marketing, sales training, corporate communications, health policy and reimbursement, key customer management and conferences for Bracco’s pharmaceutical contrast imaging drugs.
“I am impressed with Biocoat’s technology and look forward to working with the team to help leverage our new facility, where we will focus on developing our coating solutions, accelerating new product launches, and enhancing customer support,” said Moran.
Earlier in his career, Moran also worked at TouchPoint Solutions and Acclarent. Moran formed his own privately held medical device company called Jazz Medical in 2012 to provide advanced wound care products to the veterinary market. Prior to Jazz Medical, Moran spent 10 years at Convatec, where he managed national accounts and sales for the US and Puerto Rico ostomy care business before being named vice president and general manager for the company’s Japan office, which represented the third largest market in the world.
Moran received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science in marketing from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.
